9th – 11th September 2020

This year The British Ecological Society Aquatic Group (BESAG) conference was virtual. The conference included zoom talks on topics ranging from eco-evolutionary dynamics in aquatic life (Luc De Meester) to learning what is special about rivers that dry (Judy England).

We had two R workshops, one about using the tidyverse for data manipulation, R markdown and reproducible code (Andrew Beckerman) and the second covering spatial aquatic ecology (Chris Hassall).

Another vert interesting part of this conference was the virtual twitter seminars from the ECR. You can see the twits following this hashtag: #BESaquaticECRTweets. I gave my own seminar about costs of colony formation in Scenedesmus against predation of Daphnia magna. You can see it here: https://twitter.com/DaniaAlbini/status/1304385488191590404 (thread).

The conference was not just talks and workshops. We had a social event on Thursday evening and social coffee breaks between talks.

Well done to the organiser of the conference, it was a success!
